I'm thinking of purchasing a Beretta 3901 American Statesman in 20ga for quail hunting. Anyone have experience with this gun? I've been a Remington guy for lots of years but do like this particular shotgun.
Thanks, guys (and gals).

I can't say about the 3901, but I have a 390 which I love. I, too have owned several Remingtons. My bereta has performed flawlesly as do my Remingtons. I doubt you can go wrong with a Berreta regardless of model, but that holds true of the Remingtons as well.

Last year when I was looking for an autoloader, my short list came down to the Mossberg 930 and the Beretta 3901, the 3901 is a great gun, they are based off of the 390 design, I believe the only differences are that they use a different reciever and the 3901 is made in Maryland, whereas the 390 is made in Italy.
I wound up going with the Mossberg for a couple of reasons;
1) I wanted wood furniture, this was the main reason...
2) Additional barrels...which for the Beretta are pricey and availability is somewhat scarce.
3) I don't think the 3901 came with a shim kit, not that it mattered, the 3901 fit pretty well without it.
If the 3901 fits you well when you shoulder it, you will be happy with the gun.
