View Full Version : Remington or Mossberg 12 gauge ?
September 1, 2007, 07:37 AM
I am in the market for a new shotgun and was wondering which one to buy, the Mossberg 590 special pupose, or the Remington 870 sythetic pump, the all black tactical one?
Well I just went to buy the Remington, and the guy behind the counter showed me a H&R 1871 Pardner pump protector shotgun, and I couldn't beat the price of it at $167.00. Has anyone ever heard of this brand? I just found out that the gun I just got is made by Marlin.
I am still gonna buy the Remington anyway but I just couldn't pass this one up.

The Pardner pump is made in China. It's a copy of the 870 but parts do not interchange. It's dubious that the H&R will last as long as an 870.
If there's oine thing US makers do, it's to make a pump that will last forever and cost less than a week's pay.

You should have saved your money a little more and bought both the 870 Police Magnum and the Mossberg 590. Both are excellent shotguns. Lose the other one.
Buy American +1

Check that finish for leaded paint.
Of the two (or three now) I prefer the Mossy, but conventional wisdom says the Rem 870.
