Hello, im shopping around for an 18 inch barrel for my remington 870 express and I have a question. Basically I am wondering if the remington 870 police barrels will fit on an 870 express. I am trying to decide between this barrel http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=10383&title=BARREL%2c+18%22%2c+IC+BEAD+SIGHT%2c+PARKERIZED
and this one http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=10673&title=BARREL%2c+18%22%2c+POLICE+W%2fRIFLE+SIGHTS%2c+PARKERIZED%2c+IMP+CYL
Id prefer the latter barrel because it has rifle sights, but the barrel is marked police and I am not sure if it will fit on my express model.

Welcome to the forum. Yeah, that'll fit it.
I've also been in the market for a new 870 barrel and found that Midway USA has the best prices on certain lengths. You might want to check there first...about 50 bucks cheaper than the link you posted from what I remember.

Go with Cabela's. Unless you have to have the Improved Cylinder choke this is the best route. I got my new 18" cylinder bore police barrel for my 870 Express Magnum from them for $109.99
It is an awesome barrel, no complaints here at all.

Do yourself a favor and visit Midway's site. I bought my rifle sighted fully rifled 870 barrel from them for $149.99. That was Remington manufactured too.
Some of the sites mentioned made my jaw drop  from sticker shock when I compared their price for the same barrel.

Read the fine print--some of those super-cheap 870 barrels are made by Mossberg. I have nothing against Mossberg (I own one), but for some neurotic reason I prefer to have a Remington barrel on my 870.

The one for $109 at Cabela's is Remington made police barrel (labeled on the box). The Mossberg-made ones should run around $85 new.

I was in a similar situation -- except that I'm a southpaw, and so is my 870. I wanted a 18.25" rifled bbl. Coudn't find one *anywhere*. Finally bought a 20 incher, directly from Remington, nothing shorter is available, I guess. Pricy, it was, but nicely made.
