That one is the .357mag Sheriff's model. I have a .45colt one with the 4 5/8" barrel on lay-a-way as we speak.
Take care, and thanks for taking the time out to talk to me

GUNKWAZY,

How is it possible that the bullet can still go straight through your Colt Python with the Exotic grips, ports, Hard Chrome Finish...etc? It looks as if the bullet could possibly shave some lead or w/e and go either way out of the ports. Thanks for the help and warm welcome :).

Magnum,

Welcome to the forum!!!

Playboy,

First, I want to commend you on a superb handgun collection.

Second, Your photography skills are on the level of a professional and

Third.....are those Butler Creek/Uncle Mikes grips, on the 3" GP-100, in the picture next to the twin single actions, in the lower right hand corner. I recently came across a new pair when I bought the same grip for my 4" Redhawk and man I really like the grip. I can't wait until my GP returns from Gemini Customs to be able to install them on that one as well.

Here are a few of my guns:

I only have one wheelie right now, my inheritance from my deceased mother, (she passed into Heaven two months ago), and my stepfather, who is 87, blind, and in assisted living, a WWII vet who met Gen Patton in Europe during the war.
This revolver may be nothing special to many people, a simple10-8, refinished when I bought it for Pop 15 years ago, but it is priceless now. Shown with Pop's coffee mug, and sidetable they gave me.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/armoredman/PICT0190.jpg

Someday, I'll get a 3 inch stainless 7 or 8 shot for a backup, but for now, I hope to get some good quality leather for this one, a couple of speedloaders, and carry it in tribute to one of the greatest men alive, my stepfather, who I cherish this Memorial Day.

This sidearm also shoots like a cat afire, too.

I'm not sure how it works, but it does.
The port work was done by JP industries.
JP Stands for Jet Power.
That looks like a "muzzle brake", similar to the one on most of the S&W 500 models. From what I have read, it works by decreasing the recoil component arising from the high speed forward ejection of the combustion gases - this type of porting causes a portion of that to be directed out to the sides, rather than straight forward.

From comments I read on the model 500 used with and without the brake, it is quite effective.

And again, with accompianments:

I bought this for my wife, a "limited edition" Ruger Single Six Bisley.

GUNKWAZY, that 500 is a very beautiful gun. I would be scared to place it on the ground. I usually dont like engraved guns because a lot of people over do it for my tastes.

I was going to post a pic of my revolver but we lost the battery pack to the digital camera. But Im sure everyone knows what a new S&W 442 looks like.

I would appreciate that. Thats a 3" correct?
I have a 4" and a 6" and would like to try a 3". Not to mention add one to my collection someday.
They are pretty much so stock. I just swapped the inserts out on the 6" with some nice charcoal
ones.

fisherman66
May 28, 2007, 04:18 PM
It's a 4". The Hogue grips are much longer than the stock grips. Since it's not a CHL gun I don't mind the extra length and it is very comfortable with hot loads. The inside clockwork is polished too and it pulls very smooth. I have not changed the springs yet. I will eventually after I thin the shaft of the hammer and shim the trigger and hammer. I'm not messing with it until I find a replacement hammer in case I bugger it up.

Well Playboy', looks aren't everything. I don't like the feel of Rugers because of their balance. I've had two Blackhawks, a .41mag with the 4 5/8" barrel and a .30 Carbine which I had the barrel shortened on to the end of the ejector rod. It made no difference. I also had a Vaquereo in .44/40 with a 4 5/8" barrel in polished stainless steel, that was a pretty gun and I hated to get rid of it, but I did.

My ex-wife looked like a living Barbie doll, I hated to get rid of her too, but I did.

Tamara

I was going to ask you to marry me, but then you posted that second picture. ;)

a .30 Carbine which I had the barrel shortened on to the end of the ejector rod.

I'll bet you that thing made a nice substitute for a flash-bang grenade.

Rimrod
June 1, 2007, 03:56 PM
Thanks Tamara, but my wife doesn't like it when I look at other womens guns.

The guns in the second picture are to show others how good the ones in the first picture are, or were just for ammo testing purposes. The muzzle blast on the .30 was rather large but even with the short barrel the balance was terrible, not to mention a few other things. (I don't want to break Playboypenguins heart anymore than I have.)

I must tell you that you have exquisite taste in firearms too, although the post MIMS are a drawback.

It's a shame when ppl take pics of their smiths with rugers in same shot. Almost like when a hot chick brings a fatty Patty with her to the bar to make herself look even hotter.:D
I'm just kidding, I know some of you really love your fatty Patty's.:p I was at range yesterday with my dad, and he brought his newly aquired Ruger Single-six. I was impressed with it's looks. He let me shoot it after he changed the barrel to 22mag, what a dissappointment. At 25yrds, his groupings were varied all low right, same as mine and not as close to each other as you would think. Also loading/unloading was a very slow process. Any thought of getting one quickly left me.

I'm sort of surprised no one but me is fawning over Gunkwazy's Colt Kodiak and Grizzleys. If I'm not mistaken there were only 2000 Kodiaks made and only 1000 Grizzlys on the planet. And hes got THREE of them in perfect condition right there next to each other !

Yea !!! Colt's all SUCK !!! Give them all to me... ha ha ha

The Anaconda is going to go bye bye someday. The Army Special is very old (1920) and in very good shape and it's trigger pull is worse than the Anacondas but it has better balance. There are two reasons I can never sell it: 1) it was an anniversery present from my wife (the one I have now:rolleyes:) and 2) S&W never made a .41 Colt that I know of.

Rimrod probably has the nicest Comanche collection.

And that is the only one I'll ever have, unless I get offered another one for $25. The rear sight was messed up and the guy couldn't get a replacement for it, that's why it has the scope. It is fun to play with, but it ain't no S&W.

I didn't know one Comanche could be considered a "collection" either.

Just got back from what I can consider away from work :D, just got back from CONUS. I had time to take my 7yo boy shooting just once prior to July 4th. Had time to oil the guns after about 2 years and 4 months in storage. Here is a picture I took of all my revolvers prior to getting an oily rag treatment. I'm not the best photographer, so sorry for the bad lighting. josh

Your welcome! :D I had more revolvers back in the days I was single. I guess I can say,"I have six 6-shooters." :D A GP100 in each hand backed up by 6 Safariland CompII speedloaders is good enough for defensive purposes. I am planning to add a 4-5/8" Super Blackhawk in SS, a SP101 in 357 and probably one of the bigger 5 shooters. josh

You sure do like those long barreled monsters. Why the matched set of GP100's?

I have been tempted to polish my GP100 to a high shine since seeing fisherman66's on the first page.

Here is the only revolver I have added to my collection since my last post.

playboypenguin said: You sure do like those long barreled monsters. Why the matched set of GP100's?

I used to shoot the metallic silhouetes for fun, but never competed hence the love for long barelled 44 mags. I did do some handgun hunting and the extra barrel is a plus for velocity; bullet performance; increasing the distance of the blast from my ears when forgetting to wear hearing protection while hunting; and for taming the recoil.

The pair of GP100s just shows how much I like them. :D Honestly, my first GP100 was a blued one, then I wanted a SS for the added protection. I ended up adding accessories to it such as a compensator/barrel weight for bianchi cup style shooting back in the days. I had the action job and the springs were lightened up and were only reliable with Federal small pistol primers. The top of the barrel was drilled and tapped for a weaver type scope mount which was used to top it off with a Tasco PP red dot scope. When it was my main target and steel gun I missed shooting heavy 357 loads for self defense, hunting and hiking. I was fortunate to have someone offer in trade another 6" SS GP100, so it was perfect. After realizing that the 1911 platform kicks arse in most competition circle I decided to return the GP100 back to its rightful purpose, shooting heavy loads. All it took was to strip all the added stuff and install the heaviest springs from the Wolfe spring kit. It is reliable with the hardest rifle primers that I use for heavy or high pressure loads. If Ruger will only come out with one of these GP100s it will be my next purchase. :D

Have fun with the bead blasting. When I was looking for an NAA 380 Guardian the only once my dealer has was badly scratched on top during shipping. I went ahead and bought it anyway and bead blasted the top. It turned out to look better than the original factory finish.

Hello,
I remove the finger groves (because my hands are very small and don't fit them) and carefully file the front of the grip on the same plan, checking what kind of sight alignment the said front plan provides, till my sight picture is naturally correct on the vertical plan.

it's handload only... we shortened the factory 50 A.E. a few .001's to allow bigger cast bullets to fit in a cylinder length allowed by the Blackhawk frame... the cartridge headspaces on the case mouth like my 30 carbine blackhawk... the guy that built the gun for me also sold me a few custom 50 cal bullet molds... the gun shoots awesome... it's one of my favorites... & thats saying alot, since I have several others to shoot...

I've only shot less than 100 rounds through it since I've owned it, but it's been built & shot for several years, as it was done at the same time my 50 A.E Marlin was converted...

This is my old M-65 that I just got back from the gunsmith. I had the barrel cut back to 3", a new front sight dovetailed into the barrel rib and the square butt converted to a round butt grip. I think it turned out pretty nice:

This is the only revolver pic I have handy at the moment. It's my one and only CCW piece, a S&W 37-2, K&D holster, and Speer 135gr "Short Barrel" 38special ammo:

Other revolvers in my collection: S&W 10-7 (nearly NIB) with Ahrends Osage Orange stocks, Ruger Redhawk 44mag (blued, 5.5" bbl, modified hoge pau ferro stocks), and GP100 (SS, 4" bbl with Hogue cocobolo).
