I read about some "shooting" schools and training, but where does some one in southern Illinois go? The police have a couple areas but aren't hosting any visitors. Shooting ranges in general don't exist here. The new shooting facility by Rend Lake cost millions to build but doesn't address rifle or pistol exercises. Are there any local places to even shoot? Chaseing each other around the yard with air-soft just don't get it.

Belleville Shooting Range. They do some training. Don't know what all they train on, I am a member but I just shoot at the range.

I'm also a member at the Belleville Shooting Range but like klcmschlesinger, I just shoot at the range. They do have an event called "Fight Night" but I believe it is more of a competition style event rather than actual training. I've never been to one but they have details on their website.

Hope it helps,

I don't know where in southern Illinois you are located, but when I was down around Carbondale, I went to a range off Rt 13 in between Marion and carbondale. Can't remember the name of the town, but the range and gun shop was right off the road. Nice people, as I recall.
