Howdy, I'm told that loading 44spl loads in magnum brass is acceptable for my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 MAG. But why can't I find any re-loading literature for what would amount to a 44spl. "+p load"? I can't recall the exact components I used, but I tried a recipe that was exactly half way between the spl. & mag. loads listed in a Hornady manual for a given powder & bullet weight in MAGNUM brass. That is, half way between the maximum listed spl. load and the minimum listed Mag. load. I believe the numbers worked out to be roughly a 240 grain hp @ 900 fps. It shot pretty nice.:) I welcome any comments or advice. Thanx.

Most likely the need isn't there. You've either got the plinker special rounds, or the full house/hunting/personal protection magnum. Simplified, I know (I wouldn't want to be hit by either round to be honest). Maybe taking the magnum recipes and backing them down a bit would be the way to go, comparing them with special loads and the magnum minimums to make sure you don't undercharge anything. Basically sounds like what you did last time, and sounds like a beefy plinker round. Very groovy.
