Hello all Im new to the forum. I just bought a Ruger SP 101. I plan to carry it just under a vest. I want to use a leather holster, that will ride high and on my side. If you have a SP 101 and can give me the good and bad holsters that you have tried ,it will help me to purchase the correct one. Someone did tell me about a Galco called the F.L.E.T.C.H. what do you think of this one. Thanks for your ideas, Fred

Fellow sp101 fan here guys.
Regardless of the holster-get a GOOD belt. Carrying that little thing requires a good gun belt, as it puts a substantial(for a snubbie) amount of weight on a very small spot on the belt. This leads to a belt that gets loose or stretched pretty quickly.
I have a friend do all my leatherwork: www.hbeleatherworks.com
He can do anything you want, look him up. Tell him Ben sent you over.

+1 on what Ben said
I recently aquired a High Noon Rock Steady 1 1/2" Gun Belt, & I'll have to tell you how much more stable my carry guns, even the heavier ones are compaired to a standard 1" Leather Belt I used to use..
We spend all that money on Guns & Holsters & overlook the belt that holds it all together.. Great Tip Ben!!

I just picked up a Ross Leather model M4-UL. It's the top pic in the group of holsters shown on this (http://www.gunaccessories.com/RossLeather/ConcealmentHolsters.asp) webpage. Ran across it in my local gun shop.

I just ordered a Speed Paddle from Galco for my sp101, havn't gotten it yet unfortunatly. I have a FLETCH from Galco for my Glock 21 and I like it alot, though i keep my 21 in kydex mostly these days. The sp101 is my first revolver so I'm not sure how they carry compared to semi-autos in the same type holster, like the FLETCH.
I like the looks of those Ross Leather holsters. I kinda wish I had known about them before I ordered from Galco lol. Depending on how I like the Speed Paddle I may try one of the Ross Leather holsters.

When I carry my 3" SP-101 IWB it is in a Tucker Heritage.

When carrying OWB I have a great Don Hume holster.

Oh I also carry my 2" SP-101 in both holsters as well.
The FLETCH by Galco is a great holster but I have a friend that uses this Speed Master he likes better:

You might also try Rob at Simply Rugged.

Take a look at his "Silver Dollar Pancake". I have 2 for the SP 101 and really like them. Not fancy, but really functional and he has a quick turnaround. You can get a holster, belt, and ammo pouch well under $100.00. Shoot him an e-mail or give him a call, he'll likely answer the phone himself.

Some great holsters - for me it's Mitch Rosen. IWB.

For about $20, Don Hume's J.I.T. slide holster works well for the snubs when an OWB is desired. It certainly doesn't break the bank and is well made.

I know this is an old thread but figuered somebody might find it helpful:
+1 for Rob at Simply Rugged on the Silver Dollar Pancake. I had initially ordered a Don Hume holster directly from Don Hume and was let down with their customer service big time. Glad now b/c I found out about Simply Rugged and called Rob. I spoke to him personally on the phone in Alaska from Georgia(Go Bulldogs!!!) and was well informed on the types of holsters and what he recommended for my sp101 based on my needs. Told me it would take 2 weeks to get it to me. It arrived ON TIME today and WOW is all I can say. This holster is quality made and fits like a glove. I got the in and out straps so I can wear it inside or outside the waistline. For the price and quality, I will soon be getting him to make me another one for my GP100. Again, thumbs way, way up for Rob. Keep up the good work.....

I'd recommend an IWB AJ Concealco holster. I have 3 at present and like them all. Delivery is reasonable and the cost is too. I like how it conceals.
God Bless

For general CCW, most days, I carry my SP101, 2.25", .357 in a Galco
model SM122B,all day. It's a high ride, open top pancake holster.
I think it has already been pictured in this thread.
For the days when I'm doing dirty, messy work around the farm, with calves, or hay bales or such......I use an Uncle Mikes Super Belt Slide holster, I think a model 0. I can leave the thumb sap on it & never ever lose my weapon.
It's pretty washable if you get it muddy.
I also have a Simple Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake Holster, that's just okay. But not as good, for me, as the other 2.
The Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake, I carry my 3" GP 100 in is top notch though. Great for every day all day Concealed Carry.

fishermanfred-can highly recommend the Bianchi black widow holster for your SP101. I have one for each handgun that I carry. They come with a safety strap, and ride semi high rise. Nice holsters, reasonably priced. USMC Vet:

Regardless of holster type, it all starts with a good gun belt. Get one.
Secondly, the Galco Fletch is a great holster. I use one for my 1911, my Airweight and my Glock 22. Great design, well made and won't break the bank.

The absolute best holster for CCW, especially in warm/hot/Summer weather - when anyone wearing a vest look out of place - is Thunderwear.
Thunderwear is worn under the front of pants/trousers/jeans/shorts/etc, with the gun easily accessed via pullung forward on the pant's waist with the off hand while drawing the gun with the strong hand - despite what the below promo pic implies.

+1 with Milt Sparks, KD, and Tucker, I have had experience with all off them, but there is a long wait time, Tucker will probably be the fastest around 2 months.
Dom Hume is good and priced right, just not as many options as the above group.
If you need something right now then look at Galco.
I had bad service with HBE.
My favorite holsters for my snub nose are my Sparks VM11 IWB holster and my KD Eagle Defender OWB.
