Anyone know where I can buy .454 (or .451, .457, etc) balls in bulk? Maybe 500 or 1000 boxes.

is that the only place?
I've been hearing really bad things about NBC. Things like, they'll take your order and never send you anything and give you the runaround when you call them...

I bought NBC bullets, 500 ball packs, got them in next to no time.
HOWEVER, my .451 balls are the worst cast I have ever seen. At LEAST .015 mismatch on the partings, the split of the moulds. That means if you caliper across the mismatch, it is nearer to .030 clearance.
I should have complained, and I did, here on the forum, but it would have cost more to return than they were worth. Better I just melt and recast. Expensive, yes, like 19 bucks for 5 pounds or so of bad balls. Send 'em back, price goes up. SO, whatya gonna do. Melt them. Eat your loss, try to tell anybody who wants to try them my experience.
OH, and too, they have one HELL of a big sprue flat, about a 1/4 inch flat. You GOTTA make sure the sprue is up when you load.
Cheers,
George
