I'm thinking of putting a leapold vx-1 on an over under with 12 gauge. What
is the scoop on shotguns specific scopes. Are they just a little tougher or
what? If a good scope can handle say a 300mag. It should be ok with a
12 gauge .223 combo gun. wouldn't you think.

I have a Leupold 1x4 shotgun scope on my 45-70. That's because the shotgun scopes have a parallax of 75 yds while rifle scopes have parallax of 150 yds .My shooting of deer is usually withing 75 yds. The Leupold also has a heavy cross hair for the shotgun and a thin crosshair for the rifles.I replaced the heavy with the light crosshair. As far as I know that's the only difference.

Ah so it's not really a re-coil issue. Thanks.
