View Full Version : Need a Good Holster for my XD45

I need some suggestions for a holster for my new XD45 that I'm expecting to arrive anyday now.
I prefer OWB but would consider IWB. I also have been thinking about trying "crossdraw" after reading so much about it on this forum. I've tried carrying my Glock IWB in a Galco and it was very uncomfortable, then I tried it in a Alessi holster and it was much better.
I currently have several Alessi, Galco, Avanti, Don Hume, and one Fobus for my other handguns but none seem to offer a holster for the XD45 except Fobus.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Hold on fellas, after a little more investigation I found a bunch of holsters for the XD45 made by Galco and Don Hume. So far all have been OWB and one Crossdraw, none have been IWB.

If anyone finds anymore I would appreciate it if you would please let me know.

I have an XD 45 and can make you any holster you may want. If I remember correctly, Tucker Gun Leather also can make holsters for the XD 45.

K-Man,

Thanks for the link to K&D Holsters. They do good work and reasonable too. Are you in the business also?

BTW, how does the XD45 carry? Do you have the 4" or 5" model? Can't wait for mine to arrive.

Curious as to why you recommend the Uncle Mikes IWB?

I am the owner/maker at K&D Holsters - sorry I didn't clarify that for you in my original posting.

I do a wide range of holsters for a large selection of guns. The XD 45 is one of the most recent additions to that selection. The gun I have though is a "dummy" gun.

K-Man,

Thanks for clarifying that. As soon as my XD45 arrives I will be contacting you.

Thanks again.

#18indycolts,

I looked at over 55 different models of Uncle Mikes holsters, including the Sidekick Kydex Concealment Holsters, none of which were IWB or available for the XD45. Do you know of one that I am not finding?

I have been very happy with the Bianchi Black Widow holsters (cheap IMO at $50.00). I'd take a look.

I would also recommend not buying a holster unless you have been able to try it on with your gun in it (sitting and standing) and see how well you like it. Everyones anatomy is a little different so what may be the greatest holster in the world for one guy may be your worst choice.

9mm_prn,

Bianchi Holsters has some very nice choices in both OTW and IWB.

Wow, I thought it was going to be slim pickins' but in reality it has turned into an abundance of different holsters.

Thanks for your help guys.

I have had my XD45 for some time now and have used a FIST #43 belt slide clip holster combo to carry it.

This neat combo holster allows me to carry either IWB or OWB depending on my choice of clothing for the day. Works well and all for less than $60.00.

Take it over to Alessi on Niagara Falls Blvd. and get one custom made. I was there today for new snaps on my old one (n/c :))and inquiring about a new owb for my 13 and they said the wait for the local walkin customer is only about 30 days. Prices around $85- $115.

Kenny,
Alessi Holsters is about 5 minutes from my house and I know "Skip" who works there so maybe he could "rush" my order if I have to "custom order" something for my XD45. I'll stop by there in the morning on my way to my camp. I'm anxious as hell to shoot this new gun! :D

tegemu, you sure about Brommeland? I just checked and they do not list the XD45 as one they make holstes for.

I will probably buy another Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 for my XD-45 like the one I own for my Wilson Combat Professional. Temporarily I am carrying OWB in a Galco. It carries very nicely in that holster.

RR, everyone is suggesting leather/expensive. You said you prefer OWB. I have a Fobus paddle holster that I use in IDPA. It hugs close to the body and the lining on the paddle holds the holster securely in place. The holster fits the gun perfectly and even has a tension screw to adjust how tight you want the gun held. Price was $25. I liked it so much, I got another for my HK P2000, and my Taurus PT-145.

BADMAN400,

What's the model number of that Forbus and is it specifically for the XD45? I'm having trouble finding it on their website.

Check ebay for that paddle holster. I just picked one up for $18.99 + $6 to ship priority, or $4.50 for 1st class mail.

Has anyone looked at High Noon holsters for the XD-45. I'm thinking about getting the Tailgunner. This is an in the waist holster. Expensive ($US 100.00)for the horsehide but I like what I see on their webpage.

Earlier in the year, and this thread, I said that I would probably buy another Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 for my XD-45. Well the wait to have it made caused me look elswhere and I found Brommeland Gunleather. I have never regretted the choice. Gary's Service Grade Max Con V is one of the most comfortable holsters I wear IWB and the double mag pouch I wear, also from Brommeland as well, is super comfortable and holds those big mags full of 230gr. manstoppers quite securely. The holster arrived at my door in about half the time as a Sparks VM2. Gary also offers a presentation grade holster that is superbly boned, but for IWB carry the service grade suits me fine.
