Does anyone know _personally_ of a smithy that performs this work? I found a few web sites that offer these services, but I don't know them personally. I'd rather entrust this beauty to someone who comes recommended.

No, I don't know of any. However, I've thought about that myself, as I'm a lefty. Whose web sites have you found this service on? I might know of their rep from other work. Art Leckie, CAC,....?

Here are the two I found:
Cylinder & Slide, Fremont, NE http://www.cylinder-slide.com/pricing/walther_tun.htm
Great Gun Works, Pensacola, FL http://www.greatgunworks.com/walther.htm
Let me know if you hear anything. I'll probably toss a coin in a week and send the PPK/S to one of them.

Well, I can tell you for sure that C&S does excellent work on about anything they touch. Haven't seen any PPK work by them tho'. I'd pretty much trust them with whatever. Chris Hageman & Ralph Gutekunst are the younger guys there. Both are APG members as well as Bill Laughridge, the owner. That don't come easy.
That pic at Great Gun Works looks good, too. They're only a couple hours from me & I'm going down to see a friend ( fellow soldier, shooter & general good guy) near there in a couple weeks. I'll try to check them out while there.
If you call C&S, tell BIG HAIRY RALPH that BBBBill said "Hi".
