S&W M648 rebarrel

Any problem installing a M617 8 3/8" full lug barrel on a M648. Are the bore diameters the same, or is a rebore in order? TIA.....PB

PB, there shouldn't be any problem at all. The the shank/thread size is the same on both models. No rebore would be needed. The only thing to really watch for is the cylinder/barrel gap. George

Thanks George. Glad to hear it will work. I imagine that it's no big deal for a smith (I'm not) to get the gap correct. Now to find that 648! .....PB
