Three different .270's?

Besides the ballistic differences in the .270 winchester, wsm, and weatherby, what are the cost, function, and availability differences in these rounds?
Seems to be the weatherby is the hottest load, followed by the wsm and then the winchester, but how common are these rounds? From the research I've done so far none of these rounds seem to be very common, and any articles I do happen to come upon are seemingly ambiguous as to which .270 they are referring to.

Basically I'm looking for the practical differences in these three .270 load variations, as well as cost and availability.

The .270 Winchester can be found at most any place that sells ammunition. It is one of the most popular calibers ever created. If the articles you read don't specify WSM or Weatherby - it's the Winchester! The .270 Winchester was made by necking the .30-06 Springfield down to .277".

The only thing they share are bullet diameter.

The .270 Wby. is based on belted case.

No, only the .270 Winchester is based on the .30-06 (as are the .25-06, .280 Remington, .338-06 A-Square, and several wildcats).

All the WSMs use basically the same short, fat case - just slightly reconfigured.

The Weatherby, as Mike said, is a proprietory belted magnum case.

the .270 WSM is the Winchester Short Magnum which is a short fat case which gives you magnum ballistics in a short action round. It was recently introduced shortly after its big brother the .300WSM. The Winchester Short Magnum lineup now includes the .270 7mm .300 and .325. why youd need a .270 (.277) and a 7mm (.284) is totally beyond me

the .270 Weatherby Magnum was made by Roy Weatherby who has a whole stable of his own large fast expensive belted magnums and a really nice line of rifles. .270 Weatherby cases are large belted magnums with sloping rounded shoulders.
