One of my 1911's has a tendency to looses the left side grip screws after firing 200-300 rounds. Using a well-fitting screwdriver I can really tighten up the screws, but they again will work loose.
Is there a better solution?

Put a little clear fingernail polish on the screw threads. For small, non-critical holding applications like that I like it better than Loc-tight.

Hawkeye, I would first make sure it is the screws loosening and not the bushings. I've seen this quite a bit lately. Several 1911s over the past few months have come in for one thing or another and in removing the grips I find the bushings are coming out with the screws. If this is the case they need to be restaked. If not Brownells (515) 623-5401 sells oversized grip screws Burrhead's suggestion is a good one. George

Yep, good advice.
Now, for mickey mouse advice. When I lost a grip screw on my Sig P220, I used a rubber band which I blackened with a felt marker. A couple years later, somebody markets an overgrown one and makes $. Stuuuupid me. :(
