As I was experimenting with oal with my 270, I got to a length about .020 from the lands, where the shots at 100 yds grouped very tight but they were about 1.5 inches to the right from the other lengths. Is it possible that I have found the end of this barrel whip that I have read about. I plan on using this length and adjusting my scope accordingly.

If the groups produced at that COL are the best you have gotten (and the best this rifle can produce, period)....then, yes, you have found the "sweet spot". It sounds as if you've found the "sweet spot" for this particular load, anyway....perhaps not the absolute best that the rifle could do. Of course, who ever does enough experimentation to be really sure that they have the absolute best combination of bullet, powder, powder charge, seating depth, etc. ??? No one. We all stop at a point at which the groups are "good enough"....even if that means one ragged hole.

If the groups are really tight....and consistent, from group to group....and the bullet used and velocity produced are adequate to your needs....then, you are on the right track. Adjust your scope to re-centre the groups on the target....and go with it.
