i just bough a used Ruger Single Six 22lr, blue with wood grip. It came with the original case, instructions, warranty card and a spare chamber labled 340.

I believe this is a new model Ruger having only 2 screws. In the instructions it
says the gun can also shoot 32 caliber.

Please help on thsi one..

The x-tra cylinder is probably a 22 magnum cylinder. You aint going to get a .32 to fire in that gun. I dont have much knowledge with the single six, but i'm pretty sure some come with a .22 mag conversion.

340 is probably last three digits of revolver serial number showing cylinder was fitted to that gun. One cylinder should be 22 long rifle and one for 22 magnum if they are correct for that revolver.

The single six is made in a .22 version and a .32H&R Magnum version. They both use the same Ruger manual.

Some or all of the .22lr single sixes come with an extra cylinder for .22 magunum ammo.

Your .22 gun will not also shoot .32mag. Read the manual carefully and you will see the .22 and the .32 are different guns. Besides, it's not logical the same gun can shoot .22 rimfi8re and .32mg centerfire.

If you have both cylinders then it is probably a Super Single Six. The Single Sixes were .22lr only and the Supers were combo revolvers. The .22lr cylinder is the fluted cylinder and the .22 magnum is the unfluted cylinder. I don't think there is any stamping on the cylinders to tell what they chamber.

My Single Six has a marked 22 mag cylinder.

As all stated above that is 22 long rifle and 22 mag..

I have one of these single action pistols and there is no way in 'hl' you're going to get a 32 in it...

I bought a used single- six "Liberty" model, both the 22lr and the 22mag cylinders are fluted and the stamped numbers match the guns serial number.

+1 on the fluted 22WMR Cylinder.

My "new" single-6 has a fluted 22LR and solid 22wrm cylinder. The magnum cylinder is clearly marked as such.

A friend has an older Single Six with 2 fluted cylinders. His magnum cylinder came in a cardboard box containing a velvet pouch. Comparing his cylinders SxS The magnum chamber is visually larger in diameter and has a wider "shoulder" for the rim of the ctg.
