View Full Version : Calling out Pat Rogers

Ok, maybe "Calling out" is bad phrasing, as the last person I'd want to "call out" is "Yoda with a Carbine." ;)

Mr Rogers,

I have been reading your articles for a couple years now. I feel I have benefitted by being able to glean some good info about various pieces of hardware and determining if they are worth the investment.

Now I'm asking the real question:

What is your personal carbine?

Based on your articles and various posts I've come across, I'd ASSUME (and you know what happens) that it's got an Aimpoint in a Larue mount, but beyond that, I'm not sure.

Is it a Colt?

Due to your persistant advocacy of white lights, I'd ASSUME there's a Surefire on there. Which one, if any?

You've made positive comments about LT gear. Do you use a railed forend?

Are you an advocate of the VFG?

I hope I'm not out of line with my questions. I'm aware that what works for one may not work for another, but I've always wondered what you use.

Thanks for your time!

Mr Rogers was my Dad- my name is Pat.
Your question is interesting, but falls into the apples and oranges catagory.

I don't have one gun. Not all are set up exactly the same way. Technology evolves, and what i use evolves with time.

I also T&E a fair amount of gear- things change according to my schedule and priorities.

Having said that...

I use Colts or LMT only.

Sights are Aimpoint, Trijicon TA31F or S&B Short Dot- all with Larue Mounts

Forends are Larue, SF M73 or KAS RIS

Lights are M910, M600, MU or Larue Battlelight

I use VFG- all TangoDown

Sorry about not being more definite, but that what it is.

OK, I'm going to show my ignorance a bit here. But better to be ignorant and ask questions, than to remain silent and ignorant.

I use Colts or LMT only
I've seen LMT parts, but never a complete gun. Are LMT sales restricted? Where can complete LMT's be found?

S&B Short Dot
Schmidt & Bender? Again where can these be found?

No mention of slings. Have you found some that work better than others?

LMT only sells complete rifles to LEO, Mil, and people with notes from their mommies. If you're part of the other 99% of the country, you can buy a complete LMT upper and complete LMT lower and put them together yourself. :D

Figured it had to be something like that.

Thanks Techbrute.

"Your (sic) lacking EOTechs...weird"

I don't understand your post.
I was asked what i used. I answered that.
What is your point here?

There are are great many items that i don't use, either for cause or because they don't come across my plate -so to speak. How is this weird?

Well,
I'm issued an M-68 CompM but it goes in a gear bag and my 512 goes on the duty wpn. Same thing for competition. Having used both extensively, I feel the EO Tech is the superior sight. Its definitely a more rugged, better designed sight.

I was just curious as to why your using aimpoints instead of EO Techs.
Not trying to troll you, Pat. More of a light hearted ribbing. Something along the lines of 1911 vs. Tupperware...

Sorry it went over like a fart in church> :(

I just finished a 3 day class with Pat, and my Bushnell HoloSight lasted, though I could see how it might not. Went thru a bunch of rounds!! My batteries died the second day, but I had put them in months ago and wanted to see how long they would last (N-cells).

I was rather impressed with my ZM-300 upper, but I don't think the "Y" comp won me any friends on the line (that sucker is coming off pronto!!).
