Is it wrong to lust for a Model 29-2?

I really like the blued S&W revolvers! I had a model 19 (wish I had it back). Now I am really wanting a Model 29-2, preferably with a 6 or 6.5" barrel. I also like the Model 57's. If I run across either or both I would be happy ;)

Hey mec, A while back I was out bid ($25.00) on a M29-2 that looked just like yours. Did you buy it online, and was the seller from Durham, Maine???

Camaroman_99, lusting is good, I do it allot. But you can stop lusting, and go for it. I bought this online last week. It was shipped today. It's not blued, but it takes care of my gun lust. Well at least for today!!! ;)

No. I found mine locally and had s&w do some work and put a refinish on it. I REALLY LIKE your nickel one.

Not a dealer, thought about it. Too much regulation! I'm a wannabe GS that hasn't progressed much beyond the disassemble/reassemble/clean & polish stage.

But this thread is about lust, and I do need to get that under control. I also do allot of trading. I'm down to my last three semi auto's. All working guns for SD & HD. I'm pretty much back to revolvers, and I guess you could call that a fetish that has to stop before I go broke.....does anyone else have this problem ;)

Absolutely LOVE that wet oil look that S&W can put on their blue models. That is one fine looking handgun.
Camaro... go for it man. Everybody needs at least one blued N Frame before thay die.

A little lust is a healthy thing. Go for it! I also prefer blued revolvers or blued guns in general, although I saw a Ruger stainless Bisley in 357 that is absolutely gorgorus. There always seems to be the next one that you want. My most recent is the Model 57 Mountain Gun which is still on order and I am very impatiently waiting for it to arrive at the gun shop.

Lust for any revolver is a wondeful thing!! I have a 29-5 6" and a 629 Mountain Gun. Both are most excellent.

22-rimire, is that 57 Mountain Gun available from S&W? I'd love to get one to sit beside my 657.

I saw a "cherry" '67 SS at the Firestone shop having new rubber installed. I coveted in my heart. I also lust after the big framed blues. The 29 is fine but the 57 and 58 is what I pine for. I've seen a sweet M58 that someone has some pictures of that make me drool! Lust on!

Camaroman... yes, the Detectives are so alluring! But let's get back on track here... I can assure you that a nice 29-2 will simply blow you away with it's charm and appeal. They are truly amazing guns.... I recently bought two, a 29-2 and a 29-4. They're both like new and almost identical. I couldn't be happier with them... go forth and get you a 29-2! ;)

Just so you know... I'm not one who enjoys nor shoots much at all in the full-house .44 magnum range of ammo. Just not pleasurable for me. But with the right ammo, .44 magnum can be extremely comfortable and enjoyable to shoot. If you reload, you're really in for a .44 magnum treat. I find a 200 gr. bullet moving at around 1050 fps to be plenty of power, but still very comfortable. And for personal defense, ProLoad's .44 magnum "lite" 200 gr. Gold Dot load is superb. Very potent and effective as a defense round and yet very controllable and enjoyable to shoot. For me, that's the "sweet spot" in shooting .44 magnums. ;)

The 29-2 isn't hard to find. A decent one can be had for $400-$550. I have a 6.5" 29-2 (I have also owned the 4" and 8" versions) and I don't shoot it much but it is real pretty.

My M29-2 came in today. Never mind how beautiful it is, the action, timing and lock up are outstanding.

I was thinking about hiring DHart to put some photo's together for me, but after seeing his last photo of that poor M29-2 laying on the ground, amongst all those rocks and grass I decided against it ;)

So in the next couple of days I'm goona hafta get out my Brownie Deluxe and bore ya all with some pics... :rolleyes:
