Hi guys,
Day three in the 10 day waiting period for my Benelli Nova 26". I'm reading the owner's manual and looking everywhere online but can't find pictures and specific places of where to put the oil. Anyone have pictures or detailed info? (how many drops of oil, so on.) I've read on some forums that they just oil the rails and so on but I want to get this maintenence thing right. Another question, are the gun cleaners out there safe to use on the synthetic stock? Any responses would be greatly appreciated, Kudos.

I oil the rails, the metal piece inside the receiver, both the inside and outside of the barrel, the magazine tube spring, and the bolt components except the firing pin. For the stock all I use is water and paper towels.

One precaution I can give you is to make sure to install the firing pin retaining pin all the way in or you'll sheer off the head of the pin when you rack the pump. I learned the hard way.

I concur.
I keep a dab of oil on the little o-ring too.
The Nova is worth the money. A few years ago when I was going through some difficult times, I put away my Nova disassembled and dirty. It stayed this way for about two years. It was in a humid apartment too. Other things in the room showed mild rust (like some of my other guns! ). Anyway, when I got my sh1t together, I cleaned and assembled the Benelli. No rust and no problems. Very tough gun.

Ouch! That blows.

Don't mean to hijack, but has anyone shot any 3 1/2 inch buckshot through their Nova? It makes my 30-06 seem like a bb gun.

The Nova is an awesome gun. Last year, the Benelli Sales Rep gave me 4 Bennelli guns for the annual Easter Bunny Shoot Competition. Being better with pumps I grabbed the Nova, and we shot about 900 rabbits in 24 hours. I blasted 4 in consecuative shots in about 5 seconds- with witnesses!-I think they are as good as you can get.

For the oiling, anything that has friction on it is my rule of thumb.

Hey Fellow NovaMen,
Thanks a bunch guys for your invaluable words of wisdom here. This was my first time posting too, didn't expect such fast and good replies.

I'm not that thrilled with my Nova, but anyway...

Definitely look in the receiver and lightly lube any sliding parts inside, especially the rails. It's a clunky gun and likes to be oiled frequently.
