Why does a dedicated turkey shotgun have a rifled barrel?

Think they tried to sell it as a deer gun and couldn't sell it so they made it into a turkey gun.I hate bolt action shotguns in any form but got nice camo on it so if you set it down you can never find it again. :)

My guess is that it is STRAIGHT rifled. This keeps the shot charge from rotating and that keeps centrifugal force from helping pellets leave the pattern. LOTS of turkey chokes are straight rifled, and it is somewhat common in custom barrels.

It does work, and the straight rifled barrels typically pattern better than a smoothbore barrel of the same quality.
