An easy way would be to go the USPSA (www.uspsa,org) website and find a local match. Head out to it and watch and talk to people. Another place to talk about competition shooting is the Brian Enos forums. Sign up to the message boards and read, read, read. There's enough info on there to keep you busy for days. Where abouts are you located in So Cal? Welcome to the sport and have fun.

When it comes to handguns I compete primarily in USPSA/IPSC and IDPA.

USPSA/IPSC matches are put together by Jojo Vidanes every Saturday at Norco. There is an IDPA match every 1st and 3rd Saturday at Prado. Also on Wenesday there is an afternoon/evening match at Prado while daylight savings is in effect.
