870 Remington Safety

I have a Remington 870 that I have had to change the safety on. The safety funtions with the ball bering and spring in, but when I reinstall the pin that holds the spring in place (placing the spring under the pin), the safety will no longer toggle. The replacement safety was OEM.

Any suggestions for a fix?

Do you have the safety in backward?
The red band goes on the LEFT side of the trigger group.

Is this a Remington 870 Express that had the now discontinued lockable safety button?
If so a non-lockable safety isn't a drop-in part.

That fixed it, I had it in backwards.
