I looked at my 870 HD shotgun stock and it looks like there is room on the interior of the stock to drill and then screw a swivel into it. Has anyone done this? My HD which is the basic plain no frills SG doesn't have any mechanisms for affixing slings/swivels, but it looks fairly straight forward. Thanks, Mike

By all appearances, the HD stock is exactly the same stock as the Police synthetic stock, which has a rear sling swivel stud.
Given that, I would assume it would be no problem to mount a stud on your HD.
I'd take the butt pad off and take a look inside for a probable stud mounting area. My Police stock has the stud mounted exactly 2 inches forward of the edge of the stock, with the pad OFF.

Thanks, I will take it all the way off and look. Mike

I've done it on a couple of synthetic stocked 870s. Just make sure you drill the hole far enough up the stock to miss the basepad screw.
