Batteries--Eotech vs Tripower vs Aimpoint

I know the Eotech (in some models) use the AA battery, what about the Tripower and Aimpoint, do they use AAs? Ns? Proprietary?

The Aimpoint Comp M/ML and M2/ML2 do not use AA batteries; they use lithium batteries that look like large hearing aid batteries (the model # escapes me).

Aaaa but Skunk... remember that with the TriPower the batteries are used for "back-up" illumination of the Reticle. No matter what kind of battery they should last a lot longer then any used by other scopes (which use batteries as primary source of illumination)

Now, if only Trijicon would start shipping them so field testing/reporting can be done, I'd be able to deside btwn it and the Aimpoint.

Schmit, I got to play with a Tri-power at the WC3gun (team Trijicon was there).

First impressions, IT WAS AWESOME.

I didn't get a chance to use it much, (or see if I could break it) but my first impressions are that it is the best sight of its kind that I have ever seen.

The chevron rectical is easier to use than the dot, covers less target, and gives you a better aiming point. The tritium and fiber optics illuminate just about everything. The only time you have to turn the batteries on is when you are standing in the shade aiming out into bright sunshine. But even then it was still visable with out turning on the batteries. There is also a tube that you can drop a mini glowstick into it for illumination.

Plus compared to most of Trijicon's stuff, it is relatively affordable, under $400 IIRC.

Damn you Correia for throwing a wrench in my plans. I almost got an Eotech tonight. I was set on it because it uses AAs and that eases my logistics, but now I am thinking about the Trijicon tonight. I'm such a fickle little skunk.

It is indeed a badass scope - Ethan Becker pulled me clear across the SHOT show earlier this year to check it out and I dropped my jaw when I checked it out. It's roughly the same size as an Aimpoint, with a better reticle and more power modes - with redundant illumination systems. I have a feeling it will be the new standard. Very quick to use.

Oh yeah, built in "ranging" method too given the shape of the aiming chevron. Way cool.

Who's Ethan Becker?

I couldn't find any info on the Tripower batteries :(

Ethan becker is the person who started Becker Knife and Tool (BK&T) company - now owned by camillus- and designed the original BECKER patrol pack from eagle.
