Now I see what Geoff and others are so impressed by these....

I was sweltering away yesterday on Trap 8 at PGC, temps and humidity both in the mid 90s,when an acquaintance of the guy I was shooting with(Steve, from older threads)showed up with a new toy.

This was a trap combo K80 DT. 32" bbls O/U, 34" bbl on the unsingle.Third time the owner had had it out. It's gorgeous. Barry, the owner, is a nice guy and let Steve shoot it a round while Barry waited for his buddy to show up. Steve smoked most of them, and turned it back over to Barry. I asked to handle it and did. It came up smoothly and just hung in position. I don't know how it balanced, but it was SOOOoo steady I felt if I took my hands away the K gun would just stay there in mid air.

LOP was too short for me, but the beads lined up perfectly. Didn't care for the Fiber Optic front bead, but the owner explained he had a cross dominance problem. I then produced an extra shell and asked if I could take just one shot. He consented, and I stepped up to the line. Short story shorter, I smoked it.

I noted, as the puff of black smoke drifted and dissipated, that the smoke was closer to the trap house than my usual. Remounting, I grunted again and followed the bird with the empty gun. It came up smartly but smoothly.I'll wager it's muzzle light compared to my TB.

The owner then played with the adjustable rib and we shot a round together. It was shooting a bit high for him,but most birds turned into smoke, again close to the house.

It's a great shotgun, IMO. If only it didn't cost about what a good used 4X4 P/U does!!

You had me worried Dave. I had visions of you hanging one on the patterning board and letting Frankengun launch a load of OO downrange........

:D

Had an old friend who was shooting trap with his girlfriend at Wolf Creek in Atlanta. An older fellow let her borrow his SG for a round as she was not doing too well with whatever he had. She picked up a bunch of bird and inquired about the brand/price of his SG. I forget the brand, but the price was such that she nearly threw up. Seemed that when he answered "about 12" they thought he meant "1200.00". Someone else was kind enogh to clarify that the older fellow meant "12,000.00".......

i got a deal a while back on a new Kreighoff 34"unsingle and i'm still playing with it as far as the point of impact goes but it is the best feeling gun i own and has some killer wood on it......if you know anybody who wants a good deal on a Diamond grade Win 101 trap combo let me know....i'll take $1,200 for it.......A combo for 1200--what a deal.....

As far as breaking targets go the gun i still hit the most targets with is my old Winchester 1200 trap gun......

Good shootin.......Dick

Sounds like that particular K gun fit Dave at least as well as it fit it's owner. :D

Note to Barry.......give the K to Dave, it likes him.

Thanks, guys...

Giz, I wouldn't draw a mustache on the Mona Liza either(G)...

Dick, thanks for the reminder. I did score better with my TB than Barry did with his that cost 24X or so what I paid. Keep that 1200 smokin'.

Only shot it once, and I've an idea the drop, etc matched up to the TB. Stock's about 7/8" shorter, making it about the same as a Rem field stock.

Still, if I hit the Lotto, I'd sure have to consider getting one....
