I'm wanting to put this scope on my Thompson Encore Rife (Tasco Titan Scope, 8-40x56mm, mil-dot reticle, 30mm tube, black matte finish) and I have a Quick release base...but I do not know what rings I need since my leupould 3-9x50 almosts touches the barrel....dones anyone know if there are QR rings high enough to use with the TITAN scope,if so a model number of the rings?

Almost touches is key.

You don't want it to touch, but as long as it doesn't = ou're good to go.

If you've clearance problems with your scope cars, whatever, just sand away enough for clearance, cut a slot so you can slip the cover on, etc. Some use Bikini covers or even a section of tire tube to protect the optics.

Lower's usually better for scope mounts.

agreed... all my scopes almost touch the barrel, and i use the bikini covers. they don't have the 'coolness' of flip-ups, but what i have seems to work ok.

Ya i understand that but since the 50mm is like just barely off the barrel (probably could slide afew sheets of notebook paper under it) the other scope will be touching the barrel or probably not even mountable unless leupold makes higher rings? problem is I dont know what height rings ill need for the scope? they gotta be Leupold QR rings or i gotta buy anew base one.

Then just call Leupould & ask the question. Their customer service should be able to answer your questions.
