View Full Version : How do you remove the mag disconnect on a S & W

i have a 1076, and want that blasted magazine disconnect gone, cant find a smith locally to do it, can anyone help me out.

Take slide off the frame, remove the rear sight, shake out plunger and spring, replace rear sight, put slide back on frame. No more magazine safety.

VWP, ONVIAL, NWEI, YMMV, CCBS, LS/MFT and TttAF

As an addition to the above:
As I recall, there are two spring loaded plungers under the rear sight. The one on the right is the firing pin lock, the one on the left is the mag safety plunger. Remove the one on the LEFT.

There are two plungers, the spring loaded one on the left operates the magazine safety.

Or, you can learn to "set" your trigger (be very careful as this may result in a ND).

Disconnect plunger is white nylon. Pin safety is metal.:)
