Is there a difference in the metal bluing of the two?

Yes. The Wingmaster is real blue and walnut vs. the Express' sort of parkerized rough black finish and hardwood w/ a grain finish painted on. I've had an Exp. Mag. since 1993 and it has held up to duck hunting (boats, ice, snow, rain, cedar blinds, etc.) extremely well. The finish on the wood will come off with either acetone or lacquer thinner - I can't remember which. The action on the Exp. is a little rougher, but smooths out with use. The recoil pad that came on mine consisted of a thin layer of hard rubber wrapped around a hollow hard plastic box that's part of the spacer. I put a Decelerator pad on it and it made a world of difference with 3" steel loads and those nasty 2oz. turkey loads. John
