Are there any IDPA style competitions which employ shotguns? It would be reasonable considering how many people use shotguns for home defense. Not everyone can afford/wait for a pistol permit.

some ranges that have action pistol matches will also have shotgun stages in them, West End Gun club in SoCa has these "2-gun" matches once a month, I think. Call around to the ranges near you. You may have to start your own.

Alas, I've yet to make an IDPA match after being a member for two years...Anyway

Last year, the Calif Police Summer Games had shotgun stages in both the individual & team portions of the Action Pistol competition. They were my saving grace (classification-wise) since I forgot what the chunk of metal sticking up from the front of pistol's slide was for.

An IDPA club is northern AZ does have shotguns on occaision.

Check 6,

Well, when I ran IPSC style matches here in Canada from 82 - 94 we had lots of shotgun matches and stages.

We put on a lot of 2 and 3 gun matches, jungle runs, etc. Some stages involved the use of individual firearms and some the use of multiple firearms over the course of the stage.

Great fun :)
