Yeah, if you want to go double-stack, the FNH FNX does have a lot to offer at 15+1... yet it only weighs 22 oz empty... $700 from Buds for example:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...rip+BlackStain If single-stack, I love my S&W 4506 as a house gun (8+1)... They're WAY out of production but if you can find a lightly used one at a decent price it will retain its value forever... They're great-shooting ultra-reliable classics:

Of the more than a few .45 ACP autos that I own, if I had to pick only one to keep it would be the S&W Model 945. Well-made, accurate and very reliable, this pistol is sort of a "Third Generation" Smith design that has some 1911 features. Unfortunately, Model 945s have always been on the pricey side (I'm not sure if they're still being made). Other possible drawbacks include future part replacement availability problems, lack of aftermarket parts intended for customizing projects and expensive, hard-to-find spare magazines.
In spite of the negative reasons cited, the Smith Model 945 is still my .45 ACP, semi-auto pistol of choice.
