About the Cold Steel Spetznaz Shovel.
Cold Steel has been making these for a while. So sometime ago I got one and torture tested it. I used a file to sharpen the blade as it came from the factory fairly dull. Its a very versatile tool, for chopping and cutting. My only compliant is that the handle seemed a bit cheap. It broke. On further review the handle seems to be made out of maple. Possibly cheap maple and Cold Steel must for saw this as they sell cheap replacement handles. The shovel head is awesome and durable. I like it as much as any machete. In fact its faster to use when chopping and seems to direct more energy to the point of impact. Just wish the handle was made better.

Anyone seen a Russian Spetznaz Machete for sale recently?
I know they are kind of rare but they are really neat field tools. I would love to find one someday. Has anyone seen any? If so what are the prices on them?

I have several, one for the garden and one in the vehicle.
You must have really been trying to break something if you broke the handle. That handle is extra thick for a shovel handle. I consider it a great tool. I have purchased some GI shovels, not as handy.
