Saftey/ball size

Saftey/ball size. Heading out to shoot today. Just to get the feel. My question is, I will be using a slightly smaller ball than I have read. It doesnt "shave a circle of lead" but it does fit very snug. Is there any saftey concerns with this? I will be using triple 7 FFFG 15 grains and wonder wads. Thanks for all your help so far guys!

No safety concerns. But you will have reduced pressures and velocity. Your accuracy will be inconsistent and the gun may get extra dirty very fast.

If you are not using a lubed felt overpowder wad or closing the chamber mouth with grease you are more likely to experience a chain fire. The ball can feel 'snug' if it only contacts the chamber wall in two places, while the rest of the circumference is away from the wall and open to hot gas from an adjacent cylinder.

To the extent that a chain fire is a safety problem, you do have a safety concern.

Also, keep an eye out for balls progressing forward in the chamber of the cylinder from the recoil. A slightly smaller bullet can begin to creep forward and jam against the frame.

....or it can permit a gap between powder and ball. That would be a no-no.
