Fiochii shot shells

Is the Fiochi 2.75" inch shells really 2.75"? I am thinking about buying them for my home defense shotgun, and I want to make sure my gun is filled to maximum capacity.

I know seller and belliot is not really 2.75".

What all companies claim their shells are 2.75" but they really are not?

I like the Fiocchi shells, never had a problem with them,

true, not all shotshells measure the same length..
typicially not that big a deal, in 2 3/4" shells,
more variation in 3" shells..

measured a few I had..
Remington 2 3/4" 00 buck measured 2 5/16"
fiocchi 2 3/4" #4 buck measured 2 5/16"
Nobel Sport 2 3/4" 00 buck measured 2 1/2"
federal 2 3/4" #6 measured 2 5/16"
Remington 3" 00 buck measured 2 5/8"

I know that the aguilla mini shells are a lot shorter
but don't know how well they would feed in a autoloader

The 2 and three-quarter-inch (2.75", 2 3/4") description is for a fired casing. Shotgun shells with a roll-crimp are typically longer than those with a fold-crimp.

Do NOT put a three-inch shell into a shotgun chambered only for 2 and three-quarter and fire it. Unless you like headaches...

2-3/4" represents the fired overall shell length

I you want extra capacity from your shotgun try Aguila MiniShells and MiniSlugs.
The Aguila slugs are pushing a big, soft, flat-meplated 385gr slug to 1250fps - ouch!

No math majors on this site....

2 3/4 divided by 1/4 equals 11

Therefore, unless you can fit at least 10 shells in your mag tube your not going to come up with enough extra room for another shell by going to shorter shells.

And, overloading a mag, (tube or clip) is a bad thing for a tactical application.

Mini shells DO NOT cycle in semi autos. and alot of pumps are having troubles with them also. Their best use is in a short SxS coach gun. I think the only pump that cycles them well is the Winchester. Most others are having chambering troubles after the first shot due to such a short length.

All of my shotguns hold 7, 2.75" shells in the magazine tube. Except for my mossberg breacher. It is only 5 shells in the tube.
