Lauer Duracoat?
I`m thinking of having some guns done in this coating but I`m not very familliar with it. Any opinions? Has anyone seen the new "gun blue" color? I assume it doesn`t look much like actual hot bluing but I`m curious what it actually does look like. Marcus

I like duracoat
I am interested in the new gun blue color myself. I use a lot of Duracoat on the guns I work on and like it a lot as well do the customers when they get their gun back. The thing I like about Duracoat is the hardness of it when it is cured. It took me amlost three hours to beadblast it off a shotgun after it was cured. I normally blast a shotgun in around 30 minutes. It is tough as nails.

Sounds good so far. Have you used the "stainless" finish? Does it actually look like stainless,or satin nickel or...? I`m thinking of having one pistol done with that finish for the slide with stainless slide release, safety, mag release and the "socom" finish for the frame. Marcus

Kind of a different look to me
Yes, I have used the stainless, and it looks a bit like an aluminum to me, not quite a stainless look to me. I will ty to post a pic of it for you tomorrow. I have a barrel in the oven that I need to put on tomorrow afternoon and I will take a pic of it to show you. It is a 22lr barrel and the receiver is next to be painted. Just haven't had the time yet to paint it.

heres a couple of pics for you to look at
These aren't the best pics, but they will give you the general idea of the way the paint looks.

Heres a p1 I did for a customer, the slide was done in the stainless Duracoat and the controls/barrel/small parts matte black Duracoat.

I am right outside of Trussville on the North side of Birmingham. The customer said he had some nice wood grips so I will have to get another picture from him.
