Western Field Shotgun
I inherited a Montgomery Ward's Western Field shotgun from my wife's grandfather. I was hoping somebody could tell me the model and who manufactured it, along with possibly the age and value. It is a 12 gauge pump with a 27 1/4 inch barrel. The serial number is 82315. There is a "B" after the number. There is an engraving of a dog on the left side of the receiver.

Most of the major gun maufacturers of the day produced firearms for other retailers, such as Montgomery Ward, Sears etc.
There should be a model number somewhere on the frame. It could be as simple as 600 but sometimes they get rather complex, such as 570.12 or such. |

It looks like the picture of the Stevens 520, except mine has the safety in front of the trigger instide the trigger guard.

I think I have the same gun
I was just looking at my gun and you described it exactly.
I am interested in knowing what the value is and how many are out there. |
