Question about Colt 1911 grips

Can anyone please tell me what models Colt used black wood fully (combat) checkered grips with silver medallions for? I have a couple pair and am trying to find out what guns Colt used them on. Thanks, Ed:D

Don't know about the black color, but I bought a new nickle plated Colt series 70 Mark IV in 1972 which had checkered walnut grips with silver medallions.

I have a bright stainless Colt Officers' .45 that came with black painted wooden grips.

Now I know they did use these on some models and bright stainless would make sense. Is it a series 70 or 80? Mark series? Thanks again, Ed
