I have a TC 50 cal.

Which twist is recommended for the round ball?

Which twist is recommended for the Maxi ball?

Is there an all around twist that I can use for both?

Thanks fo any responses.

Generally the slower twists ie. 1-66 are recommended for roundball use. The faster twists of say 1-28 are better for bullets. The ideal all around twist is considered by many to be the 1-48. Actually lots of original rifles were rifled with around a 1-48 twist and the same holds true for a lot of the replicas out there. Still, if your into the roundball game I would defintely recommend a slower twist barrel than the 1-48. Pistols by the way usually have a much faster twist barrel.

For round patched ball the smaller calibers (.45 and smaller) seem to perform well with the 1/48” while the larger (.50, .54 & up) do better with a slower twist such as 1/66”.

Rule of thumb is:
1:66 is for rb.
1:48 is for conical.
1:32 or faster is for sabots.
All guns perform differently though, so try everything until you get the best accurracy.
