Alright, so I love my red jacket Vepr but have decided I don't like the stock Vepr furniture anymore. What I do like are the Galil style AK handguards like the offering by DPH http://dpharms.com/products/ak-47_compliance_parts/galil_style_hand_guards.html

From the picture it appears that the handguard is held on only by a lower retainer which I can buy at DPH http://dpharms.com/products/vepr/vepr_bolt-on_~28diy~29lower_handguard_retainer.html

My question is whether or not I can retain the vepr gas tube or do I need an ak gas tube with upper retainer? Any other modifications or do y'all think this would be a bolt on job?

Oh, also I am doing the stock. I'm stuck between the TSD folding adapter http://www.onesourcetactical.com/tsdcombatsystemsveprfoldingstockunit.aspx#.UGIi3Y1lTfs with a Magpul CTR stock, this requires no permanent modification.

The other choice is to go the full Galil route and have an internal block installed (professionally) with a Galil folding skeleton stock. http://dpharms.com/products/ak-47_furniture/ak~2Fsaiga_dph_arms_style_galil_butstock~2Fhinge_combination.html
The problem with this route is that the tang has to be removed permanently for the block.

Opinions on this?

Also some Vepr inspiration albeit not with the Galil handguard.
