a classic .22

i have the Savage 93R17GLV with a Weaver scope an a harris bi-pod. is there any .22 that has the classic wood look like the Savage has? i like this one ".17 HMR model" an i want a left handed model.

I have been told that the LUX is the same rifle as my Military Trainer but with a walnut stock instead of Birch wood.

I don't know if it is true but all the specs match up and the sights are the same.

Superbly accurate rifle right out of the box.

Many of the CZ rifles are sightless,,,
I suppose one could remove the irons sights though.

I not only like the idea of having iron sights on a rifle as a backup to a scope, I like the looks of irons on a rifle. They look under-dressed without them. I wish all of my many rifles had them.

an i do love my Savage .17 HMR. if i can be able to get that model without the iron sight's that is my .22 LR :)

That Savage you posted about is a nice rimfire rifle that's for certain,,,
A range acquaintance has one and it performs well,,,
I've fired it on many occasion and like it.

The important difference between the Savage and my 452 Trainer is barrel length.

The Savage has a 19" barrel that to me says "carbine",,,
The CZ452 Trainer has a 24" barrel that (again) to me says "rifle".

I'm not advocating that longer is necessarily better,,,
But for me it was worth the extra $100.00 I paid for the CZ.

Just a thought. :)

A Classic .22 is the Savage Model 3.

I just picked up a CZ 452 17 HMR with the heavy barrel a couple weeks ago, that thing really shoots, trigger is OK not great, wood to metal is very good.
It will punch 1/2" groups at 50 and 75 yds and 3/4" at 100 yds. (at 25 yds its just about in the same hole). I have not tried it at 200 yet but would expect it to lose quite a bit at that range. Also the 17 gr bullet seems to shoot the best.
Can't say what the Savage will do but from what I've seen in some of their other rifles (center fire)it should hold its own.

I have the 452 Lux .22 WMR and the 452 Scout .22lr. Great guns with real wood and steel.

I've had mine for 6 months, love every bit of it. Nice fit and finish, smooth bolt, good iron sights, and cheap to shoot. Its my favorite .22 I own.:D

You can find a .22 rifle better than a CZ 452/453. As long as you don't mind paying three times as much money for It. The fit, finish and accuracy of a CZ452/453 rimfire rifle can't be beat for the price. It's not even close.:D
