Hi folks,...

i saw on a post somewhere (that's a dead give away of my problem) that there is a new model Colt 1991-A1. yes, i did forgot where i saw the posting :) well, it says that the new model has dovetail frontsights and Bomar rearsights. I was wondering if there's anyone in the board that have come across this new model, and what other changes does this new model have,.... is it "loaded" like Springfield Armory 1911s.. what are the factory perks (load) that they put into this one?????.... hope someone have seen it....

thanks,...jhunnetaz

The 1991A1 is a stripped model like the G.I. models that Colt has made since 1991. There are, however, models from the custom shop built off of the 1991A1. There are three model levels, I believe, and it is possibly one of these you could be thinking of.

I'm not up on 1911 History either. Never owned or shot one. I also recently noticed the 1991A1 designation on gunbroker.com auction site. Thought it was a lot of mistakes for a while. Now I know more of the rest of the 1911's story. Thanks for the info, even tho I wasn't the asker!

jhunnetaz,
This may be the one you saw:

There isn't much detail given other than the sights.

I saw one at a gunshow this past weekend in Houston. It's basically like every other 1991-A1 that I have seen, except for the dovetail front and Bo-Mar rear. No other modifications were noticeable. The Bo-Mar wasn't super low mounted like custom guns, but it was comparable to the way Kimber or Springfield mounts them. It looked like a pretty good base for a custom gun, and the price was good too -- about $50 to $75 more than the standard 1991-A1.
