Anyone have experience with these 2 scopes?

http://www.valhallaarmory.com/4x_CQB_Scope_p/cqb4x.htm

http://www.valhallaarmory.com/Burris_AR_332_p/bur300208.htm

I found them listed on a tactical rifle blog:
http://tactical-rifle-blog.com/?p=49

Basically, I am looking to get a good/reputable AR-15 tactical scope (not red dot sight), 3-4x (or greater), firing 300-500 yards accurately, and keep it under $500

if neither of the 2 above are recommended, what scope within the price parameter would you recommend?

thanks

firing 300-500 yards accurately

I shoot my BCM 14.5 Middy with a Nitrex 1.5-5x32 scope at 300 yards. Hitting a silhouette target at that range with the scope dialed up to 5x is doable with good ammo and practice. If you want to shoot smaller targets farther out, I would suggest moving up to some higher magnification scopes. I have a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 that may fit the bill for you. Here is a link to the scope http://www.opticsale.com/vortex-viper-2-7x32-1-tube-riflescope-with-16138-prd1.html?gdftrk=gdfV2656_a_7c772_a_7c6880_a_7c012_d_VPR_d_M_d_02G4

thanks...I have a Vortex StrikeFire red dot sight and like it...I use Federal NATO 556 for my range ammo...I guess it's pretty good quality

funny...literally just now got a text from my buddy...I shot his AR last weekend at 100 yds and he just said his scope is the Vortex Viper...my shot placement at 100 yds was very very good

Just be careful on scope ring highth if you go with the M-223. The Burris PEPR Mount is perfect for keeping with the bullet drop com. in the scope.

If it has two rings, I would'nt use a single ring red dot mount, afraid it would'nt hold zero.

Also, how do you guys zero your scopes? I've been looking at laser bore sighting online. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks

I have always "bore" sighted a scope, if possible, first when I mount it to a rifle or when a new mount is used. On my AR I take the upper and lower apart then remove the bolt carrier unit so I can see down the bore. Mount the upper on a good cardboard box with appropriate notches cut in the sides to hold the upper steady. Look through the bore in the center at an object, then look through the scope and adjust until the scope is aiming as close as possible to what you see down the bore. Once reassembled I target shoot at a distance of only 25 yards and once the scope is on target move out to 100 yards, etc. I've used the cardboard box unit to bore sight in 3 scopes but on my AR have bipods on the front so I did not need a box. Bore sighting is important to rough sight in a scope because they can be way off right out of the box. I just changed mounts on my AR using the same scope and the difference in the 2 mounts produced shots over 2 feet in difference at 25 yards. Good thing I have a huge metal back stop behind my target/bullet catcher.

thanks Utopia...what do you use to bore sight? I'm looking at some laser bore sights. I'm sure some are good and some aren't so good.
