I have a Mustang .380 and have ran several mags of hollow point and round FMJ with no issue, however last week I had a box of Square shouldered FMJ at the range and had 2 instances where the old shell ejected but the new round hung in the ramp and left the slide open about half an inch and actually partially unseated the slide release....any idea why?

I always run regular FMJ in my Gov380 with no problems. Can you post a close up of the slide stop notch in your slide?

The slide stop notches on these were subject to deformation (soft steel) where the slide stop engages. Yours looks fine.

I would not shoot that type of ammo in that gun anymore.

P.S. You could check the extractor and chamber for cleanliness.
