Highest Riding OWB holster ?
I have decided to try an OWB for when I can wear a shirt with
the shirt tail hanging out but I dont want the tip of my 5 in 1911
hanging down for all to see under the shirt. ( like happened with
the holster that came with my Springfield.)

I have been looking at the trigger guards vs the top of the
belt line as a guage to judge how high they are riding
and also whether the gun is straight up or canted in the FBI style.

So what manufacturer makes the hi ride style and whose is the
very highest?

Also, as I understand the problem with raising the gun higher
is the tendency for the gun to not hug your body as close.
So would the belt slide or a paddle holster control that the best ?

My suggestion would be to contact a custom maker, then you can get it to your specs within reason. There are a ton of them out there. The higher you raise the holster the less stability it will have, so you may have to comprimise a bit. Most of my customers like the higher riding OWB holsters as well.Below is one I did for a 5" 1911.Dave:)

And even this one could be raised a bit higher.

That is pretty work but I'd have to see where the trigger guard
of the inserted pistol comes to a stop when fully inserted
to see how high it is compared to the top of the belt loop
in the back of it.
Thanks for sharing your work.

When I carry my SIG 1911 w/ 5" barrel, I use the Bill Wilson Rapid Response. http://www.wilsoncombat.com/l_rapid_response.asp It carries it very high and tight aginst the body plus it has the thumb safety guard.

I was told the holsters are made by Rafter Gunleather. http://www.raftersgunleather.com/

I carry my 1911 in a Galco Fletch holster. This holster rides high and still hugs the gun tight to the body.

Now, I still have to dress around my gun, but with the Fletch holster, I don't worry about the barrel sticking out below my shirt tail.

Highest riding rig I'm aware of is the Milt Sparks 55BN. When I use one with my 1911s, the butt is right up in my ribcage.

Milt Sparks 60TK. Also known to us old folks as The Roadrunner.

Check out the Mernickle PS6. I love the look of it, but my proportions just won't work with holster riding that high.
