does anyone know the name of the kit to make your own percussion caps? I remember seeing it somewhere, but alas, I forget

TAP-O-CAP (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/open_sight/archive_open_sight.htm/9)

that is an article done not too long ago for them.

The toy caps that come in a plastic ring fit #11 nipples perfectly. However they won't reliably set off Pyrodex. Might work ok with real bp.

I have had one for a few years. They make nice fitting caps but the little red rolled paper caps that you use for centers do not ignite the black powder. At least not for me. Never. Not once.

Sadly, that review dates back to 2002 & the link to MidSouth Shooter's Supply doesn't show Tap-O-Caps anymore. I contacted Forster (the manufacturer) within the last year or two & they told me they no longer make them or have any plans of reintroducing them. Better keep an eye out on Ebay or Gunbroker & see if one turns up.

Well, color me embarrased, I just Googled Tap-O-Cap & came up with a revised MSSS page listing them, & they are currently in stock!! Here's a link: http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=00070TC1000

I know you want to use "American West" brand of caps, but all I could find
at Wal-Mart was "Legends of The West" brand. They look to be in the same
color of boxes. Does anyone know if they are the same?
