Greetings gun gurus
I have just inherited a S&W model 10-5 sn D107-435.Square butt,4" barrel. It appears to be unfired,in box.Would like to know when it was made, and about what it is worth.
Thanks in advance.

Something doesn't jive. Your serial # shouldn't have a dash. Also, the D SN #'s ( while used on mod 10's) started in late 67-68 with the 10-6. A 10-5 was listed as 1962 vintage (one year only). Mistakes were made at the factory but this one sounds way off.
In any case, it's worth approx $325-350 if all the accesories are there and the #'s can be reconciled. Mod 10's are plentiful but great guns in their own right.

Putting all of your numbers together, the book says your S&W
10-5 was made between 1969-1970; as the serial range for that
particular period ran from D90001 thru D330000.

FWIW, I have a 2" factory nickel S&W 10-5 with serial number
D472XXX that was made between 1972-1973.

Best Wishes,
