I'm heading to Branson area for a little R & R next week and want to shoot while I'm there. Is there a pistol range in the Springfield area? I'll be shooting some Clays at Branson Shooting Sports Complex, but they have closed their pistol range.
Any help is appreciated

Well, there is a very good one between Branson and Springfield. It's a private thing, maybe you could give them a call though

Bass Pro has an indoor range.
Then there is a few outdoor ranges, I go to one in Pleasant Hope - 15-20 minute drive north of Springfield.
I live here, so you're welcome to look me up when you get in town and I can show you a place or two.

CDPshooter,
About 10 miles further north from Ozark Shooter's Sports Complex on Hwy. 65 is a place called Busiek Wildlife Area. It is managed by the Missouri Dept. of Conservation. There you will find an unsupervised shooting range with 25, 50, & 100 yd. lanes with shooting benches. They have recently finished construction on Hwy. 65 and the last time I was out there they had not yet replaced the sign for the turn-off. The best I can tell you is that the turn-off is between 2 bridges and it will be on the east side of the highway. There is a quarry down there which you can see from the bridge. The shooting range is quite nice and secluded, but on a weekend at this time of year there will likely be several deer hunters sighting in their rifles so you may have a short wait. By the way, I believe the range is closed on Mondays for maintenance. If you ask the folks at The Shooter's Complex, they can probably give you more information. I think you'll like it here in the Ozarks. Oh, one other thing...Bass Pro Shops here in Springfield has an indoor range.
Have a nice stay!

Mike,
You call it the Branson Shooting Sports Complex and I call it the Ozark Shooter's Sports Complex. Either way I think we're both Talking about the same place. Here is their website:

SW 586:
I think the Busick range you speak of is probably nicer than the Pleasant Hope deal. The Pleasant Hope deal is not maintained at all.
I am a member of APT, and it's an excellent range. THe best in this area.
All steel targets, one moving on a train-car target, rapelling tower, etc. I think we have 5-6 pistol ranges and a 300 or so yard rifle range. A long with some short rifle rangers.

hsg2001,
Haven't been to the Pleasant Hope range. Also haven't been to the Bois D'Arc range either although I hear it's pretty nice.

When we went down to EOSM #1, we shot a a range run by the Ms. consevation commision.
I think it's the one refered to in SW 586 post. [Bois D' Arc] That place was an absolute great place to shoot. Well worth your time to shoot at!
